Introducing the PatientenHouse

The patient as partner

The Luxembourg Allergy Network (LAN) is proud to announce that it has become part of the wonderful new project set up by the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL) called the PatientenHouse. The PatientenHouse was officially inaugurated on the 1st of February 2023 in the presence of health minister Mrs Paulette Lenert. Many Luxembourg patient associations that support those who suffer with chronic illnesses, including the LAN, were present for the opening at the CHL.

The PatientenHouse offers a link between the patients, their families and the hospital. It sees the patient as the partner. A patient is an expert of their illness. By capitalizing on their own experiences and expertise they can offer invaluable support to other patients and their families that goes beyond the medical support that health professionals can offer.

An illness is not something that you choose. It usually enters your life suddenly and unexpectedly, and this can be hard to deal with for the patient and their family. Patients who might have been newly diagnosed can feel overwhelmed by this sudden change of course in life. They feel powerless, alone and have many unanswered questions.

The PatientenHouse offers a space at the CHL that enables patients and their families to meet with the patient organisations. It is a place to exchange and share personal experiences and offer patients support along their journey and help them with the management of their illness on a daily basis. The LAN is very excited to be part of this project and hopes that this will provide an opportunity to reach more people who are looking for support with their allergies.

The meeting room is ideally located in the CHL centre next to the cafeteria. If you would like to make an appointment to meet with the Luxembourg Allergy Network, please feel free to contact us by email luxallergynetwork@gmail.com
